Reviewing Reasons to Visit Toronto

Writer's picture: Aidan LeBlancAidan LeBlanc

This article discusses meaningful facts about why young adults at university or taking a gap year should visit Toronto on their holiday. This article is intended for young adults at university and without families as shown by the introductory sentence, “...with a creative counterculture to rival the likes Williamsburg and Copenhagen.” This sentence uses the opinion that Toronto is equal to the cities of Williamsburg and Copenhagen for travel destinations. This indicates that young adults who would normally visit these cities while single, at university or during a gap year should instead visit Toronto. The opinion that Toronto’s “creative counterculture” is equal to or better than European cities is intended to appeal to the audience which would take advantage of the counterculture in those cities.

The purpose of the article is to persuade young adults with disposable income to travel to Toronto. The article gives a list of reasons why you should visit Toronto, these are: its culture, the nightlife, the trendy neighbourhoods, and the shopping. The final reason on the list as to why someone should visit Toronto discusses the shopping options using a list of three stores, “In Vintage We Trust, 96 Tears and Siberia are treasure troves for vintage hunters looking for one-of-a-kind finds.” This sentence contains a list of three places where one can find unique and “one-of-a-kind” clothing options. The list of stores attempts to persuade the reader that there are many opportunities for shopping in Toronto. Shopping “vintage” for unique items requires the traveller to have disposable income; the list functions to persuade young adults to spend their money in these stores.
